The Absence of Golf

I’ve had some questions concerning what the heck happened to Gilagolf blog of late. No, we have not closed down, but it has been pretty drying lately in terms of golf…we’ve been hacking the same old courses over and over. Someone suggested that we should review the reviews, and see if there are any improvements. It’s a great idea, but we’ve so darn lazy that I doubt we’re interested in reviewing our reviews unless the course really really pissed us off (cue in UPM and the stupid directionless signs).

However! I’m also settling down in my new job so updates on golf courses will be less, as I have to take a break a little, but be assured that I will blog as much as possible  on all things pertaining to golf, never fear! So, Gilagolf will be back!!

you are the man! very close to what you have said..

shall i invite you to go BKK, Singapore and Batam for golf… so that we can see your blog more often!

Tering Bay in Batam now having promo…
drive to SG.. take a boat.. take a night stay…
    its worth the trip :)

Aha…the siren call of overseas golf…with the ringgit doing as well as our sand saves (which means to say, extremely UNwell), some major cutbacks are in place, and we’ve had limited golf over the past weeks. However, if I’m down in SG and have time, will surely take up the advice!

So thats what you have been up to – having a break. no more courses to conquer. Really missed your trenchant & pithy comments as they are mostly spot on. Yeh why don’t you do a circuit again. Revisit some of the courses that you last played especially those you played in the rainy season. I know how plugged balls can screw up one’s game but to lose plugged balls in the center of the fairway can destroy the entire day.

Scrabbled around with blogs on local golf scene..suddenly stumbled upon on your blogside and I get hooked to it !..your humorous side with on golf jokes on courses that you have ‘cangkul’ around make a pleasant reading.

One thing puzzle me is that you really ‘hate’ BUCC course…. nothing wrong ma! the course got well with me and my flight golf kaki…overall score not bad either.

I’will follow thru all your course experiances and try to indulge with it.

Bro, what about 9 holes course in PDRM Golf Course in Tasik TitiWangsa KL?..worth ‘cangkuling’!

  5. gilagolf says:

I suppose we caught BUCC on a bad day…it’s a pretty course, and it’s reasonably priced, but at that time, the fairways were totally horrendous…dug up by wild pigs, no doubt and even though I scored well, overall it was a let down. But as I concluded, we’ll still give it another shot =)

Yes, some of my friends have cangkulled the PDRM course already…I havent tried it yet, but I’m sure once I do, you will hear about it!

    Happy Hacking!

Dude, I absolutely love your blog ! Rock on !

I’m planning to play at Kajang Hills soon. Have you tried that course..? What’s your take..?

    Cheers

  7. gilagolf says:

No, Kajang Hill was one of those courses we played but never took pics at. And now they have raised their green fees to cater to only Japanese and Koreans expats…poor Malaysians with ringgit no longer welcomed….

  8. Lostangel says:

Ok, I have just started playing golf 3 months ago, so please excuse this rifriggindiculous question…

Is there ANY course in Malaysia, or the whole world for that matter, that allows you to play golf alone/solo..?

  9. gilagolf says:

It depends on the day…hardly any courses will let you play solo on weekends. But for weekdays, some of the courses who will allow: UPM, definitely. Monterez, Nilai I think can. If you are a member, most clubs allow it (KRPM, KGNS) etc.

For weekend hacking alone, I guess the best bet is BU 9 hole. Just go early, or during lunch time, because that course is notoriously jammed up.
